My Food Story
I began my Whole Foods journey in the Prepared Foods department at South Street in Philadelphia right after graduating from the University of Kansas in 2007. As the breakfast hot bar lead I would find myself constantly drawn to the department next door and the glistening fruit tarts shining from the bakery cake case. I longed for my hot bar to have a sparkling jewel just like that, so I began introducing new recipes to my menu such as scratch cinnamon rolls, scratch biscuits and gravy, and quick breads like zucchini and carrot with cream cheese glaze. When a cake decorator position opened up at my store I jumped at the opportunity. I had no cake decorating experience, but the team leader took me on based on my reputation for driving high standards. My passion for merchandising food and flare for indulgent displays has made the bakery a fitting home for me and my talents. I believe that as innovators in the culinary world our work should be creative, practical, relevant, and efficient. My leadership style is people focused. I strive to foster a work environment that is fulfilling, challenging, and fun. I invest in my teammates, so that together we are driven to invest in our work and provide an amazing customer experience.
